Air fryer BBQ ribs are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional BBQ ribs. They are easy to make, low in fat, and packed with flavor. Air fryer BBQ ribs are perfect for those who are watching their weight or trying to eat healthier.

Ingredients:

  • 1 rack of baby back ribs
  • 4 tbsp garlic powder
  • 4 tbsp onion powder
  • 4 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 4 tbsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp sea salt
  • 1 cup bbq sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F. Remove the membrane on the back of the ribs. Use a knife to begin removing the member. With a dry paper towel, use it to grab ahold of the membrane and remove it from the ribs.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the rack of ribs, making sure to cover both sides. If you prefer to season the ribs individually with the seasonings as I did, you can do that as well.
  3. Cut the ribs into 4ths. Place ribs meat side down to start. Flip after the first 10min.
  4. At 20 minute mark, pull and put bbq sauce on them. Put them back in for the last 10min with bbq sauce on them and meat side up. Turn up to 400 degrees for the last 2min.
  5. Remove the ribs from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips for making Air Fryer BBQ Ribs!

  1. Choose the right rack of ribs: For the best results, choose baby back ribs as they are more tender and cook faster in the air fryer. Make sure to remove the membrane on the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption.
  2. Season generously: To enhance the flavor of your air fryer BBQ ribs, use a mix of brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture on both sides of the ribs to make sure they are evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer: Preheating your air fryer to 375°F ensures that your ribs will cook evenly and turn out crispy. Don’t forget to lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent the ribs from sticking.
  4. Cook in batches: Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the ribs in batches to avoid overcrowding the basket. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking and mushy ribs.
  5. Flip halfway through cooking: After the first 15 minutes of cooking, flip the ribs over to ensure even cooking on both sides. This will also help the ribs cook faster.
  6. Brush with BBQ sauce: After the ribs are cooked through, brush them with your favorite BBQ sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes to caramelize the sauce. This will add a sweet and tangy flavor to your ribs.
  7. Let them rest: Allow the ribs to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help them retain their juices and flavor.
  8. Experiment with different BBQ sauces: You can use any type of BBQ sauce you prefer, from traditional to spicy or tangy. Try experimenting with different flavors to find your favorite one.
  9. Serve with your favorite sides: Air fryer BBQ ribs go well with a variety of sides, such as coleslaw, baked beans, corn on the cob, or roasted vegetables.

By following these tips, you can make delicious and tender air fryer BBQ ribs that are sure to impress your family and friends. So, fire up your air fryer and get ready to enjoy this classic dish with a healthy twist!
