Bacon lovers, rejoice! With the ever-growing popularity of air fryers, whipping up tasty, mouthwatering air fryer bacon has never been easier. This modern kitchen appliance lets you indulge in your favorite crispy treat without all the guilt. It’s time to say goodbye to messy grease splatters and hello to a healthier, more convenient way to enjoy bacon. In this article, we’ll explore the ins and outs of air frying bacon, along with some pro tips for achieving the perfect crunch.

The Benefits of Air Frying Bacon:

  1. Healthier alternative: By using hot air circulation, the air fryer cooks bacon without the need for additional oil, effectively reducing the amount of fat and calories in your meal.
  2. Less mess: Air frying eliminates the need to deal with messy grease splatters, making the cleanup process a breeze.
  3. Time-efficient: With an air fryer, you can have perfectly cooked bacon in a matter of minutes, saving time and effort compared to traditional cooking methods.
  4. Consistent results: The air fryer’s precise temperature control and even heat distribution ensure that your bacon comes out perfectly crispy every time.

How to Cook Air Fryer Bacon:

Ingredients:

  • Bacon (as many slices as desired)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer: To get started, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for optimal results. This should take around 3-5 minutes, depending on your air fryer model.
  2. Arrange the bacon: Carefully lay out the bacon slices in a single layer within the air fryer basket, ensuring that they do not overlap. If necessary, cut the bacon in half to make it fit better.
  3. Cook the bacon: Place the basket into the air fryer and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the bacon reaches your desired level of crispiness. Keep in mind that cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the bacon and the specific air fryer model.
  4. Flip for even cooking: Halfway through the cooking time, flip the bacon slices to ensure even cooking and browning.
  5. Remove and drain: Once the bacon is done, carefully remove it from the air fryer using tongs and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess grease.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Serve your perfectly cooked air fryer bacon immediately, and enjoy the crispy, tasty treat without the guilt.

Pro Tips for the Perfect Air Fryer Bacon:

  1. Choose the right bacon: For the best results, opt for bacon that is not too thick or too thin. Medium-cut bacon works best, as it crisps up nicely without becoming overly chewy or burnt.
  2. Don’t overcrowd the basket: Ensure that the bacon slices are arranged in a single layer without overlapping. Overcrowding the basket may result in uneven cooking or soggy bacon.
  3. Adjust cooking time for personal preference: If you prefer softer bacon, you may want to reduce the cooking time by a couple of minutes. Conversely, if you like your bacon extra crispy, consider adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
  4. Experiment with flavors: For an extra kick, try seasoning your bacon with your favorite spices or herbs, such as black pepper, paprika, or maple syrup, before air frying.

Cooking Bacon in the Air Fryer vs Stove Top

When it comes to cooking bacon, there are a few different methods to choose from, including cooking it on the stovetop, in the oven, or in an air fryer. Here are some ways in which air fryer bacon compares to stovetop bacon:

  • Healthier option: Air fryer bacon is a healthier option as it requires no oil to cook. In contrast, stovetop bacon requires oil or butter to prevent sticking and to aid in the cooking process.
  • Crispy texture: Air fryer bacon and stovetop bacon can be crispy, but bacon tends to be crispier in the air fryer.
  • Cooking time: Air fryer bacon cooks faster than stovetop bacon. However, stovetop bacon can be cooked in larger batches, which can be beneficial if you’re cooking for a crowd.
  • Convenience: Air fryer bacon eliminates the need for a stove or oven. This can be useful if you have limited kitchen space or want to cook bacon without heating up the kitchen.
  • Cleanup: Air fryer bacon is easier to clean up than stovetop bacon. The bacon grease is collected in the bottom of the air fryer basket and can be easily removed. Stovetop bacon can leave behind a greasy mess on the stove and require more cleanup.

Breakfast meat is probably the most cooked thing in my air fryer. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Pork Bacon, Turkey Bacon, Chicken Sausage, Smoked Sausage… it’s all going in. It all cooks at roughly the same temperature and time (Give or take 1-2min) You can’t mess this up.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pkg of Thick Cut Bacon

Directions

  • Open the package of bacon and place pieces on your air fryer tray (or inside the basket of the basket-style air fryer).
** I recommend using Thick-Cut Bacon, however, you’re welcome to use thin-cut. It will take less time.
  • Place bacon into the air fryer at 350 Degrees for 9min. Flip the bacon halfway and cook for the remainder of the time.
  • Serve crispy and hot. Enjoy!
